About once a month I get excited by a product that will enhance my cultural experience. Griffin Technology is a sponsor of Culture Catch, thus, I've been paying closer attention to their product line. They have lots of great stuff for the iPod, but the new wireless speakers they have coming are really cool. Connect to an iPod base station, the speakers are rechargable, thus don't need to be plugged into the wall. Why is that important? If your outlet isn't grounded properly, powered speakers can get a small buzz.
I don't know if they sound any good, but the design is cool and the concept fits into my lifestyle perfectly. I'm not a huge audiophile, thus have very little need for a 10 componet system with tuners, preamps, amps, DVD changers, and all sorts of other junk.
I'm fine with an iPod and wireless speakers. Currently, we run an Advent wireless speaker system in our home. Sure, it would have been great to have the house built with a speaker wide system. But my friend who has this in his home, can never figure out how to use it, even after several "lessons." For me, moving the speakers from the living room for cocktails and then the dining room for dinner and porch for dessert is kind of different, thus a bit cool.
