Here’s a unique opportunity to participate in the funding of a film. Written and directed by Edna Luise Biesold, Cutting it Short will be about 14 minutes long and bills itself as a comedy about alcoholism. It takes place in real time during one night in a hair salon in which Sadie, played by Casey Killoran, risks relapse and exposure.

From the press pack: “Beneath the humor, the film is a plea for compassion and a reminder that people battling addiction are fighting private wars we rarely see. The United States is facing a significant public health crisis, with roughly 1 in 10 Americans aged 12 and older (approx. 27.9 million) living with Alcohol Use Disorder as of 2024. Despite declining participation rates, alcohol is the third-leading preventable cause of death, according to the NIAAA.”

Your opportunity: go to the fund sourcing site Seed & Spark and donate. Many of the production goals have been hit, but they’re trying to raise enough for actor housing, etc. Giving is multi-tiered, offering incentives according to the amount of your donation.
